With some of these Cosmetics costing as much or more than quality Indie games, we need to STOP calling them "Microtransactions". There is NOTHING micro about a $30 cosmetic.
Just sad to see one of my favorite franchises tarnished by microtransactions. I loved Diablo 2. D3 was okay. I tried Immortal and I'll probably buy D4 because it looks fun and want to be back in that world. I'll just ignore the store section.
Nice Video and Info Guys… But Nope Not Buying D4 … If The Game Was FREE And I Want To Buy Gear etc.. Then Yeah I'll Go For It (Like Fortnite) But Paying For A Game And Then Paying For Extra Bullshit.. Nope… Why Not Go For A Monthly Sub Of 14.99 And Include Everything..
You have honestly got to be a special kind of idiot if you went into this game, decided to pre-order before seeing the microtransactions, and then find yourself outraged in the coming weeks as they will inevitably find every possible way to monetize the enjoyment out of the game. Battle pass, microtransactions, full price purchase, some people just really seemed to enjoy getting taken advantage of by corporations.
For the uninitiated or simply naive, here's a little insight into how this works.
They do not release the cash shop during the review period to avoid any negative press.
They then release the cash up a few weeks later, once all of the reviewers stop paying attention and have moved on to review the next big game. They will release the cash shop in a terrible state with insane prices. People will scream and shout and complain, they will then say they are listening to the community and lower the prices. Throughout this entire time their original intent was never to sell you on the high prices, but to appear like they are listening to the community by "lowering" the price to what it will eventually be. Gaming news will uncritically cover the price drop. Most casual gamers will then be satisfied and continue to play the game, and the cycle of gamers goldfish like memory of their own exploitation will continue into the next big live service project. I dare someone to come back to this comment in two or three years and tell me that I was wrong.
Diablo 2 resurrected is the only blizzard game I bought in decades. I waited for over a year, researched the heck out of it if there were microtransactions, the offline mode is good 👍.
Tired of being duped? 😆 listen in. 3 rules. 1. Wait a long time after release and research it good. I'm talking small independent gamers take on the game, not just 1 big time game review. You get more honest reviews with them, they usually tell you straight if the game stinks. 2. Buy it heavily discounted, the vanilla version, not some ridiculous super gold edition that they tacked on 40 more bucks so you can get some silly super weapon, etc. 3. I completely stay away from microtransaction games, except completely free ones. That means no ps plus subscription, no upfront or future costs. War thunder was the only one I liked that fit the bill.
Exceptions: very very few. One really in the last 5 years. No mans sky ps4 and free ps5 upgrade. I did upgrade. Looks amazing on ps5. I paid full 60 bucks plus tax. Why? I like open world games. It truly is a giant and unique game. The person who made it came from a tiny startup gaming company, he put his own house on the line to complete the game. They never charged you for anything. The updates, which are many, have really made the game a gem.
I haven’t seen any p2w micro transactions, only cosmetics. If people like a cosmetic and it doesn’t give them an edge who really cares? If I see a skin that looks cool and I’ve got the money lying around I’m gonna snag it, if I don’t then I’m not gonna get it, no one is forcing cosmetics lol.
Just a word to those who are interested. To login the wait is ridiculous and more often than not on Xbox you get an error code and have to start the whole process over again. Not to mention the the estimated wait times minute mark must use a minute length that the rest of the world doesn’t use. In short wait until the full release and save yourself the frustration.
I've been thoroughly enjoying Diablo 4 so far haven't spent any money on cosmetics the armor in game looks just fine to me. My only complaint is there isn't any offline mode.
Netflix games are generally available to download, in mobile at least, and there's actually a surprisingly good roster if you're already paying for their shows. Just need the ability to download on actual hardware outside of mobiles
It might change in the future, but right now it's super easy to ignore the D4 shop and its cosmetics. Been playing since early access started. Solid game, but it's super bleak and depressing even for a Diablo game.
I'm playing it in Early Access, I don't understand why you would ever spend money on cosmetics in a Diablo game, I think the fun is grinding to get gear that is powerful and looks cool
I've gotten to the point where just the mention of a bunch of microtransactions in a game turns me off from buying it. As much as most companies want to dress it as optional purchases that don't impact gameplay, there's no way that's entirely true. Especially when you get into items that can be earned by playing or bought through the store. They absolutely fudge the numbers so the drop rates on those items are next to nothing or the grind is so abysmally slow that you'll just go buy it and save yourself hours of frustration. They prey on people's impatience rather than trying to make a system gamers want to engage with.
Yeahhhh the diablo 4 store doesn't matter at all for anything right now. It sucks it's there, but it doesn't effect the game at all. It's far from Immortal, just closer to CoD.
Edit: wait a minute!!! They gave us the WORST experience in Immortal so that this wouldn't seem so bad. Hmmm 🤔
This is complete bollocks. The game is a looter, kill things get loot, The loot is cosmetic. The statistics is just an addon. Locking off loot behind a paywall is complete bs. I'll play the base game. I doubt I will be playing the seaons this time around as they have nerfed the reason i would play it.
For the record, it was announced around the time that Microsoft purchased Playground Games, that they were starting up a second studio to work on Action/RPG games. This new studio is the one that is making Fable. So it isn't the same studio that makes Forza Horizon.

As of early access launch you can buy cosmetic armor for player and horse. That's it.
I am disgusted by Immortal and cash shops in general, but this one, so far, is nothing to talk about.
