Another Squat unit has been revealed and this time it’s the Vartijan Exo-Driller for Necromunda. And it’s brilliant.

05.09.2022I want to see more Squats! But the yellow helmets is a but weird and the mech is quite Chunky!

04.09.2022I love it and I want 100 of them.

04.09.2022Honey, i shrunk the deredeo dreadnought!

04.09.2022I'm not a big fan of the squat stuff. They look too much" imperium meets tau" to me to be their own faction in 40k. I'm ok with the necromunda stuff, but not so excited for 40k
Adeptus Ridiculous 2022
04.09.2022Kirioth, I love it!!! It is Soooo retro old School

04.09.2022Going to get one of these boys, stick some sort of Tesla coils on the back, and strap a railgun to the arm with the flamer. He'll be my own nod towards Fallout's Tesla Armor.

04.09.2022That’s becoming an ork so fast you have no idea

04.09.2022Looks like a shorter version of the Custodes Dread

02.09.2022There is one things the squats need to make them perfect…..beards. that's all

02.09.2022Looking at the squat guns they are flawed. There’s no way to load the upper barrel and no way to extract from the lower barrel. I’m assuming it’s powered by fantasy. I might be wrong not being an armourer.

02.09.2022Kinda looks like a Big Daddy from Bioshock

02.09.2022Would love to know if this is plastic, or Forgeworld.
Most (all?) the gang specific brutes are forgeworld, but given the sheer girth of the lad! that's going to make him somewhere in the region of $317AUD. (Exaggeration? Who knows?)

02.09.2022I love the heads…

02.09.2022The revolvers seem to have a barrel lined up with the pivot point. Absolutely no idea how the bullets are supposed to navigate that. Maybe the second barrel is like the fake exhausts people put on cars to make them look cooler. Also, for a model called "driller" that drill's not very impressive. I don't think I'd want a naked flame when I'm mining, because explosive gases are a thing. Why does the flamer have three primers on the two nozzles? Very much in the "what are they playing at" camp.
Osnadurtha
02.09.2022To echo what others have said, I think the closed visor helmets look dope, but the open ones are a bit naff. Especially that extremely and unnecessarily wide visors they have covering the eyes too. They seem to be more for like a 'hammerhead' shape rather than human/squat, but the closed ones don't have that problems for some reason. Assuming it's cuz the face is no longer a point of reference so maybe it's harder to tell that their bigger, or maybe it's cuz it blends in more with the armour equipment thing. Either way, it's an interesting direction that GW is taking the squats in, I'm definitely interested. (I do wonder if they'll have various head options for the squats so that they could all be helmeted perhaps.)
Also the new lad look stellar. Reminds me of a frog. I absolutely love the like industrial rivets and especially the massive like pipe connections betweem the back/backpack and the arms (I'm a sucker for those types of pipes on kitbashed models). I am starting to see a specific aesthetic of like more chunkier, centre of mass rounded designs, I wonder if thisll be what GW plans for the large majority or if this is specific to certain types of models maybe. Very, very intriguing

02.09.2022I like it, but I can't help trying to imagine what position the Squat inside's legs are in. That's some splits going on right there. In fact it's gotta be full starfish position.

31.08.2022The rounded armor looks like a submersible pressure carapace. It's a good look. Better than short leg primaris like I was expecting.

31.08.2022How the two barrels works is, it doesnt GW is just bad at design.. lol

31.08.2022In my personal opinion, it feels like a RIP off of the kharadron overlords. I know its the same company, but let's compare the two factions. when the kharadron were introduced, the were the tau of aos. They had flushed out lore and completely unique designs in a setting where technology is rare. The comeback of the squats was an April fool's joke that turned out to be true. Now dont get me wrong. I like how they look and its nice to have them back. I just dont what them to become so similar that it takes away from the uniqueness of the squats.

31.08.2022Their tech is so advanced, we aren't supposed to know how theor guns work. (I'm making stuff up)

30.08.2022I LOVE the extra wide helmets

30.08.2022I like this model, and would love to have a couple in my future Squat Army. Hop they won't be hopelessly overpriced when they come out. Looks like they can be built with various weapon setups, and that is always nice to make some variety in the army.

30.08.2022The wide helmets make me think of Man-At-Arms from He-Man.

30.08.2022I'm really loving the squats and I didn't want them to come back initially but they are nice models so it's hard to say anything bad about them.
The Red Scare
30.08.2022From a practical design standpoint, the armor and helmets make a lot of sense. This is mining safety gear, which is primarily designed to keep the wearer safe in case of falling rocks. The armor is a lot bulkier than the Squat wearing it.
The helmet is designed to cushion the impact of a falling rock by maximizing space between the outside of the helmet and the head, just like a real-life hardhat. Also, these helmets seem to incorporate hearing protection as well, adding to their overall width. If you're working with a lot of heavy equipment for extended periods of time, you're going to want hearing protection because god DAMN does a jackhammer make a lot of noise.
HugeGeronimo
30.08.2022Nah don't really like them, they don't really fit the lore, of the originals anyway. And I am a Squat Ancestor… They look like an attempt to make them a new space marine requiring powered armour? They have that Rock and Stone vibe… Not Miners on hi gravity asteroids who "mutated" over millennia. 40k made fantasy a reality in science fiction, not just making stuff up not already there, I hope they continue to try.

29.08.2022Harkens back to 2d edition Squats.

29.08.2022There actually are twin barreled guns in service in real life, mostly by Russian. The russian GSh-23 is a twin barreled 23mm auto cannon that works on the Gast Gun principle developed by German engineer Karl Gast of the Vorwerk company in 1916 for a machine gun of his own design. The mechanism was lost until the Soviets stumbled across it after the Second World War. The Gsh-23 is a twin-barreled weapon in which the firing action of one barrel operates the mechanism of the other. It provides a much faster rate of fire for lower mechanical wear than a single-barrel weapon.
Although it cannot match the sustained rate of fire of an electric Gatling gun like the M61 Vulcan, its initial rate of fire can be higher than that of a rotary cannon like the M61 due to it not needing to spin up to fire. It requires no external power source to operate, but is instead powered by the recoiling of the floating barrels, somewhat like the action of the German MG-42. There’s also a larger auto cannon operating with the same principle but firing a 30mm.

29.08.2022The new model is great IMO! Can't wait to set him up against my ancient Chaos Squats 😜

29.08.2022Yeah I dig the revolver weapon look as well

29.08.20222 Barrels don't make sense mechanically. but its not the first time we see something off in 40k. Sicarian infiltrator gun has 2 ammo feeds, one barrel and 2 ejection ports that don't line up with the barrel or anything really.
just call it 40k magic technology

29.08.2022you seem to have forgotten about twin linked in 40k……… or combi weapons…… they look like twin linked bolters and auto guns.
